NY/NJ Rap Poll-a-tics

The World Famous Cocaine Blunts Poll is back for 2009. This week it’s about some rappers who are beefing. One of them has a gay son, I think, but neither has an album.

It’s over there in the bottom right hand corner of the sidebars…

Do you mean “the south” as a whole entity coined by rap fans who only listen to Wu-Tang and Native Tongues and believe that that entity is responsible for “the downfall of rap?” I.e. they take the shine from the inevitable exposure to be had by groups like Little Brother?

  2. noz Says:

    Um. Yes?

  3. Air Max Says:

    @A Charlie Brown Christmas
I don’t think Little Brother’s lack of shine comes from regional hating. It comes from the fact that their production went from exciting to hackneyed in about 2 album’s time

this is easily the hardest poll i’ve seen up so far. almost everyone included (minus the south, unless you’re referring to the sole music entry on wikipedia, an “emoviolence” band) could easily take the title. i think i’m gonna vote for saigon though, who will never ever ever release an album. where’s papoose on here? he’s advertising himself as free to be booked for private shows every week through his myspace bulletins. the nacirema dream lives on?

  5. Just Says:

who care’s if one of them has a gay son, son? this is 2009 homie. you stay phobic.

  6. Elijah Says:

Damn, I woulda thought the Coke Blunts audience wouldn’t have “The South” leading, but there it is. Kinda depressing.

Speaking of depressing, definitely had to go with my man Canibus on this… because the amount of talent and potential that that man squandered just makes me angry.

  7. noz Says:

You guys do know there is a battle between Saigon and Joe Budden going on right now?

I don’t personally care if dudes son is gay, but it was a point that Saigon thought notable enough to bring up in his diss record.

  8. noz Says:

Okay I’ve rephrased the post. ‘Winning’ this poll would be a positive thing.

  9. MZA Says:

“I don’t personally care if dudes son is gay, but it was a point that Saigon thought notable enough to bring up in his diss record.”

I think Saigiddy’s the one with a gay son, and Joe was the one who dissed him for it.. I could be wrong though, I’m not paying that much attention.

where does Bis come into all this?

My vote’s for the South anyway..

I just think Bis is funny.

  12. MZA Says:

I just think Bis is funny.

in the sense that you can create a canibus verse in less than a minute just by recollecting everything you learned in high school science?

“mechanically slicin’ atoms/molecules givin’ spasms/my lyrics give off orbital orgasms”

  13. MZA Says:

and my bad.. I told you I wasn’t paying attention to that. I didn’t even know Joey had a son >.>

  14. beez Says:

  17. nick_sweep Says:

ha! the south is killin it…

  18. TSF Says:

What about Reggie Noble?! Or Da Outsidaz? Or are these just random rappers in the poll, not just NYC/Jersey cats?

  19. noz Says:

Joe Buddens and Saigon are two rappers who are engaged in a high profile (on the internet) beef right at this moment.

Kool Moe Dee and Canibus are two rappers who were at one point engaged in high profile beef. They were primarily included as jokey wild cards.

The South is the area of America that is below the mason-dixon line on a map.

  20. noz Says:

This is what I get for trying to be timely!

  21. Newaged Says:

I’m never against guys wanting to one on one. There is WAY too much buddy-buddying going on in hip-hop. The fact that a guys are able to run around calling themselves kings of this and the greatest at that–without any hint of competition from their WORTHY counterparts.

  22. Newaged Says:

    **pressed submit by mistake

… is a joke. Cats are scared to up themselves out there and possibly take a loss.

  23. MAYNHOLUP! Says:

  24. TSF Says:

Kool Moe Dee should be beating Saigon…

  25. Tray Says:

I was about to say, how is Saigon beating Moe Dee? Why is CB even alluding to Saigon and Jumpoff?

  26. D.O. Says:

Are you guys seriously taking this poll seriously?

  27. david Says:

  28. mush Says:
